I’m feeling worried about my mom since I’ve moved. She was talking about feeling depressed even before I left, knowing I was about to be gone. Now she’s been calling and talking about how everybody leaves and families just disintegrate… How she’s all alone and accusing me of not missing her at all. Which hurts more than I can say- because I’m her only child and I think the world of her and miss her every second. (And remind her of that every day when we speak on the phone.) Last time my mom was diagnosed with severe clinical depression I was 8 and had only a slight inkling of what was going on. But she was convinced she was supposed to die whether it came from her not eating or taking more desperate measures.. we’ve never really been able to discuss it. I’ve already brought up the option of her going to therapy again, mentioned that I had visited my psychiatrist before I moved just to perform a mental inventory of sorts. I don’t know. There’s only so much responsibility I can take on as far as her mental health goes from here. Feeling guilty about moving wont help anything. But I can’t seem to shake it right after talking to her.
